Yes, I am straightforward but with a handful of empathy. I share insights, reflections and hands-on experience. I write about skills, design thinking and random stuff I care about from a designer's perspective. Writing helps me to confront myself with certain topics and create an opinion. It develops my own understanding, clears my mind, organises my thoughts and it is a lot of fun.
This is not about what I learned in class. It is what I have learned outside of the class – during breaks or at lunch time. We are surrounded by knowledge and by potential collaboration opportunities every day. Can you not see it? It’s the people around us.
No one ever asked me to lead a team. No one ever taught me how to lead a team. And that’s fine, because someone not telling me what to do, was never an issue for me. I always do what I believe in.
The weather is constantly changing. One day it is sunny and the next day there is almost a thunderstorm. We adapt to it daily and sometimes every minute. We open our umbrellas when it starts raining and we close them when it stops. It sounds easy.
Do you remember that time when you were really focused and forgot everything around you? Time passed so fast that you didn’t even realise it. I remember these times very well. It was when I played. It was just you and your imagination. Everything was possible! That was an amazing time.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Everyone has heard this question a million times. The answer to this question was some standard answer which was accepted by society. But these answers were very limited and would probably not cover everyone’s interest.
No one wants to hear „no“ as an answer. If you don’t ask for something no one is going to say “no” to you. It is as easy as it sounds. Nonetheless, in order to get better we need to start asking. Asking for feedback and asking for help.
Time is limited. This can be good or bad. Would we live our lives differently if time was not a factor? I don’t know, probably… I believe if we are aware and remember that we have limited time we push ourselves harder. Time management is a bitch no matter if you have enough or not enough time to fulfill a task. As we all know there is never the right moment to do something. I don’t think that is true. There is the right moment and that moment is right now.
We are surrounded by graphic design. Even though most people are in contact with it every day, they are not aware of it. Which means there are still some questions to answer: What is graphic design? What do graphic designers do? How do graphic designers work?
I am not an Accountant. I am not a Finance Expert. I am a UX Designer and I am volunteering to be the Finance Director of our startup. This probably sounds like a bad team decision. It is not, it’s an opportunity. Not only to grow as a person but also to understand what happens below the surface of a startup.
Of course, I am talking about rapid prototyping. We usually assume we know exactly what our users want. We are wrong! How about we just ask them? By showing a prototype of our product or service in an early stage we can test our key assumptions in an easy and fast way. Even if the result means that our assumptions were completely wrong.
