Yes, I am straightforward but with a handful of empathy. I share insights, reflections and hands-on experience. I write about skills, design thinking and random stuff I care about from a designer's perspective. Writing helps me to confront myself with certain topics and create an opinion. It develops my own understanding, clears my mind, organises my thoughts and it is a lot of fun.
I had the pleasure to interview Jane Hutchison in April 2017. She is the Co-Founder and Creative Director at Hello Love Studio and Founder of The Hello Beautiful Foundation – an impressive personality. We talked about collaboration, innovation, creativity and of course about the Hello Love Space – a journey of unforeseen restrictions, improvisation, and unexpected opportunities.
I traded my life in a small city for the big adventure, which made me being happy and uncomfortable. Leaving my beloved city Zurich and my job was not easy – but then nothing that is worth it is easy, right? I left behind my family, friends and known environment to start a new chapter in London. In this new chapter, the focus was on learning how to build and run a start-up based on design thinking methods.
This is not about what I learned in class. It is what I have learned outside of the class – during breaks or at lunch time. We are surrounded by knowledge and by potential collaboration opportunities every day. Can you not see it? It’s the people around us.
Do you remember that time when you were really focused and forgot everything around you? Time passed so fast that you didn’t even realise it. I remember these times very well. It was when I played. It was just you and your imagination. Everything was possible! That was an amazing time.
